Marketing & Philanthropy Specialist

Seva Canada, an international development organization focused on restoring sight and preventing blindness in low- and middle- income countries, is seeking a full-time Marketing & Philanthropy Specialist to join our small team.

The Marketing & Philanthropy Specialist reports directly to the Philanthropy Manager and will support the Seva Canada team in raising the profile and awareness of the charity, building relationships with donors, and supporting campaigns and fundraising programs.

Seva Canada offers a hybrid work environment, and is a casual, dog-friendly office. Our team is made up of 6 full-time staff (who primarily work in the office, and work from home 1 day per week) and 3 remote staff (who come in periodically). We also have two four-legged furry staff members who are in the office a few times a week.

We are looking for an experienced Specialist who is a detail-oriented self-starter eager to join a fun and engaging team where they can learn and grow.

 

Marketing Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Marketing & Communications Director on social media strategy and search engine marketing and optimization
  • Create and implement social media plans including post creation, graphics, reels, stories and videos (primarily on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn)
  • Monitor website and social media results, stay up to date on trends and generate reports, provide recommendations and optimize campaigns
  • Create collateral and organize mailouts
  • Lead the creation of Seva’s bi-annual newsletter
  • Onboard photo and video database (Canto), and maintain it
  • Acquire patient sight stories from our partners and where/when they are used
  • Create social media campaign toolkits for influencers
  • Write blog posts, stories, and newsletter content
  • Review and edit existing web content as well as post new
  • Create media and influencer lists
  • Manage Mailchimp
  • Manage Shopify

 

Philanthropy Responsibilities:

  • Support the management of Seva’s Legacy Program
  • With mentorship from the Philanthropy Manager, steward mid-level donors
  • Prospect research
  • Maintain donor records in the database
  • Pulling and preparing lists and reports
  • Help facilitate donor touchpoints including preparing donor communications
  • Assisting with events, including Annual General Meeting, World Sight Day, board meetings and third-party donor events

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible and relevant experience in marketing/communications/digital/fundraising, or another related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects while maintaining focus and flexibility in the face of change and ambiguity
  • Ability to think creatively, take initiative, and work independently in a highly collaborative work environment
  • Proven experience working with various social media platforms with a strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital and social media
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint Excel, etc…)
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to take direction and receive instruction with a high level of comprehension
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • Experience with digital design tools such as Canva, Affinity or Adobe Creative Suite

 

Assets:

  • Experience using CRM databases such as ETapestry, Virtuous, Kindful, DonorPerfect
  • Creative writing and storytelling skills for print and web
  • Experience with WordPress websites
  • Experience with Digital Asset Management (DAM) software, such as Canto
  • Experience in the non-profit sector
  • Interest in international development and learning how a small-to medium charity operates

 

Compensation

  • $60,000 – $70,000 annually
