About

We believe that everyone, everywhere should have the power of sight. Founded in 1982, our mission is to restore sight and prevent blindness in low- and middle-income countries.

Through our unique partnerships, we work to establish locally-managed eye care programs that will continue to serve people and communities long after our involvement is complete.

With decades of experience working in some of the most challenging places with the greatest need around the world, we know that restoring a person’s sight and preventing blindness can relieve suffering, reduce poverty and transform lives.

Pronounced “say-va”, Seva is a Sanskrit word for service.

Our vision is a world in which no one is needlessly blind or visually impaired.

Our History

For over 4 decades, we’ve been helping communities provide eye care. It all began with the eradication of smallpox and a commitment to alleviating human suffering.

Our Team

Seva Canada is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. We also have staff located in our in-country offices in Nepal and Cambodia. Additionally, our honorary patrons, board members, photographers, videographers, and field teams worldwide all contribute to making the work possible.

Our Supporters

We know we can’t fulfil our mission alone. From individuals to corporations and everyone in between, our supporters make it possible to give the power of sight to those in need around the world.
