Dr. Larry Louie is being honoured with a 2011 Alumni Award!

Dr. Larry Louie, a long-time Seva supporter, is being honoured on September 22, 2011 by the University of Alberta (U of A) Alumni Association with a 2011 Alumni Honour Award. This award recognizes the significant contributions made over a number of years by U of A alumni in their local communities and beyond.

Dr. Larry Louie optometrist and photographerLarry, both an Edmonton optometrist and an international award-winning photographer, uses his compelling, world-class photography to raise awareness of Seva’s work and to raise funds for our programs. His images have been featured in National Geographic and Conde Nast Traveller and exhibited around the world.

Larry’s fascination with photography and travel started with his first copy of National Geographic. Born in Hong Kong and raised in Edmonton, Larry was educated as a doctor of optometry and now divides his time between his practice and his art.

Larry’s work has received international recognition including an IPA Lucie Award (one of the top prizes awarded in photography), a National Geographic photo essay award, the Prix de la Photographie Paris (PX3) People’s Choice Award and the Humanitarian Documentary Grant from the World Wide Photography Gala.

Dr. Larry Louie has also compiled 2 beautiful books showcasing his breathtaking photographs of Tibet and Nepal available through Blurb. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of these books is donated to Seva Canada.
