One of the barriers to people in low-income countries face accessing care is fear of the unknown. Many have never been to a doctor and do not know what to expect and are scared. “What will they do to my eyes?” That is why outreach is so important. Our local outreach workers counsel people and explain that the care is safe and performed by highly-trained ophthalmologists and nurses. When you inform people about safe, high-quality eye care, seeking treatment becomes a lot less scary!
