Seva Canada marked World Sight Day, October 14th 2010, with three events in busy Vancouver locations.
Our goal was to raise awareness of global blindness and low vision. People were shocked to learn that every 5 seconds someone in the world goes blind and that 80% of this blindness is either preventable or treatable.

At the main library, Granville Island and at BLENZ at the busy Cambie and Broadway intersection, Seva set up SMART Pics photo booths. Teams of Seva volunteers asked passers-by to stop and take a moment to write down what they would miss seeing if they went blind. Here's a slide show of what people would miss without sight. Seva wants to thank all our fantastic volunteers and our campaign sponsors -- Paperblanks, SMART Pics, Granville EYELAND and BLENZ for their support. With special thanks also to GAP Adventures and Planeterra Foundation for helping to take the campaign around the world.
