I've just watched the CBC News report on third party fundraisers and how much charities in Canada spend on fundraising.
The story was about charities hiring external, for-profit fundraising companies to solicit funds from donors.
I'm proud to say that at Seva Canada we have no eternal fundraisers and that 83% of your donor dollars go to programs. We are a very small, efficient charity with just 3 full-time staff (Penny, Annie and me) and one part-time (Paula).
We have eye care programs in 7 of the poorest regions in the world. Even a very small gift makes a huge difference. $10 or less will buy a pair of prescription glasses for someone who has low vision. A sight-restoring cataract surgery costs $50 or less and includes all the medications, intraocular lens and, in some cases, even transportation to and from the hospital.
Thank you to our amazing donors for your support.
