On February 22nd, the Seva Cambodia team attended the formal inauguration and dedication ceremonies for two Seva-supported eye units in western Cambodia – the renovated building of the Battambang Eye Unit in Battambang Province and the new building for the Mongkol Borei Eye Unit in Banteay Meanchey Province. Dr. KC and Ratana were each awarded medals from the Government of Cambodia during the inaugural ceremony for the new Banteay Meanchey Eye Unit. In Battamabang, Seva was honoured with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Kingdom of Cambodia that read: “On behalf of the poor patients in Battambang Province, we would like to show our gratitude to The Seva Foundation in supporting the Battambang Eye Unit on necessary equipments, material, and techniques to upgrade the higher quality of eye care service as well as subsidising eye surgeries to the poor patients since 2001 until now.”

The Secretary of Health for Cambodia and other speakers at the two events highlighted the successful collaboration between Seva, the Fred Hollows Foundation (an eye care charity based in Australia) and the Cambodian government authorities. Seva Canada applauds the Seva Cambodian team for their immense dedication and compassion in bringing sight to the people of Cambodia.
